In Memory

Damon Christopher Carroll

Damon Christopher Carroll, born on January 22, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio was the first of two boys born to Damon Carroll Sr. and Virginia Clara Leggon. Often referred to as “Chris” he attended Cleveland public schools until relocating to the Ludlow area of Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1958. Damon was well-liked and very popular among his classmates. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1967 and attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio for 2 years.

After college, Damon returned to Cleveland in 1969, and married his high school sweetheart, Annette Elizabeth Allen. Chris and Annette raised two wonderful daughters, Kimberly and Cindy, who gave them three grandchildren, Jordyn, Karlee, and Jayden; and inherited one step-granddaughter Courtney.

Damon owned and operated a construction business, Damon’s ASC Construction Co., established in 1970. He was a general contractor until the time of his death. He was a hard-working man, always willing and ready to assist others with their needs. He enjoyed mentoring other contractors in the field and loved all his tools of the trade.

Outside of construction, Chris had a true passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and thought, “life is good in the woods” and was fond of sitting by the campfire with good friends and family.

Those who knew Chris were always warmed by his big heart, infectious smile, and his charming sense of humor. He truly was a source of positivity. He was a people person, always thinking of someone else’s needs before his own. Although he was battling Parkinson’s for the last three years, Chris never displayed much discomfort, nor did he ever complain because he never wanted to be a burden. On Easter Sunday, April 4th, at age 72, Chris was called to Heaven where he joined his parents, dear friends Max Richardson, Larry Hines; and others. He will be long remembered and greatly missed by his loved ones.

Damon is survived by his devoted wife Annette, of 52 years; his precious daughters, Kimberly Carroll-Humphrey (Hayden) of Dublin, Ohio, Cindy Carroll-Kimble of Shaker Heights, Ohio; brother Robert W. Carroll (Anita Bernadine Sodaitis) of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; and adopted brother Millard Brown, deceased (1940-2004); brother-in-law’s Ernest “Buzzy” Allen, Jr., and Mark B. Allen Sr., of  Shaker Heights, Ohio; Grandchildren: Jordyn Humphrey, Jayden Humphrey, Karlee Kimble (Fanni), Courtney Smith-Kimble; and Great Grandchildren Tai Kimble and Harper Pollard; nephew, Mark B.
